Full Job Description
We have exciting opportunities for experienced Band 5 ITU nurse to step up into a full time band 6 post in the friendly 12 bedded Critical Care Unit at Newham who were in the frontline during the COVID pandemic and where work is in progress building a new state of the art unit., The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. They will be involved in the setting, monitoring and evaluating of standards of care and practice within the Unit. As a senior member of the nursing team, you will assist the Matron and Senior Sisters / Ward Managers in the leadership and management and development of the Unit and service. You will contribute to the education and professional development of both qualified and unqualified staff on the Unit. In the absence of the Senior Sister /Ward Manager the post holder will assume responsibility for the effective operation of the unit.
Key result areas
1. Deliver high standards of clinical care to critically unwell patients
2. Demonstrate progression from care of level 2 to level 3 patients
3. Maintain effective communication with the MDT and service users
4. Maintain accurate and complete documentation consistent with legislation, policiesand procedures
You will have had 2 year's experience at band 5 level in critical care, having undertaken the Critical Care course and will have experience in mentoring new starters and undertaken some projects and audits in a critical care unit . Internal rotation into night shifts will be required. We are looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 critical care nurse who is either at the start of developing their leadership skills post their ICU course or have substantial band 6 experience in critical care. You will be provided with supernumerary orientation programme and further training to develop leadership skills and a rotation into the practice development team and the Critical Care outreach team at Newham.
