Your impact To supervise and manage ground investigation (GI) works on site, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, UK legislation, and company procedures. This role includes discharging the duties of the Principal Contractor (PC) as required, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), Directly or discharged through appointed third party. Works may include on or adjacent to End client electrical site., 1. Supervision of Ground Investigation Works:
- Oversee and manage all on-site GI activities, including drilling, sampling, in-situ testing, and monitoring.
- Ensure that all GI works are carried out in accordance with the project specification, relevant British Standards, and industry best practices.
- Monitor and control the quality of GI data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers involved in GI works.
- Maintain accurate records of all GI activities, including daily logs, test results, and sample logs.
- Identify and resolve any technical issues or discrepancies that arise during GI works.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Manage and maintain GI equipment and ensure its safe and efficient operation.
- Liaise with the project manager, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding GI progress and issues. 2. Principal Contractor (PC) Duties (CDM 2015):
- Develop and implement the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) in accordance with CDM 2015.
- Ensure that all contractors and subcontractors are competent and have the necessary training and qualifications.
- Manage and coordinate health and safety on site, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and other relevant legislation.
- Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks.
- Monitor and enforce safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Maintain a site register of all contractors and visitors.
- Manage welfare facilities on site.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between all parties involved in the project.
- Manage and control site access.
- Ensure that the Health and Safety File is compiled and handed over at the end of the project. 3. General Site Management:
- Manage site logistics and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Maintain a clean and tidy site.
- Resolve any site-related issues or conflicts.
- Represent the company in a professional manner.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Manage environmental aspects of the site activities.
- Ensure compliance with waste management regulations.
Proven experience in supervising subcontractors undertaking ground investigation works. - Comprehensive knowledge of GI techniques and procedures.
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and other relevant UK health and safety legislation.
- Experience in discharging PC duties.
- CSCS Supervisor or higher qualification.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- NG Person/ OHL / Substation / Cable (NSI 30)
- HSG47/ G26 Training.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Relevant geotechnical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HND, Degree) are desirable.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation related to construction.
