The post of Social Worker in the Child and Family Team, Children's Services completes a number of functions and statutory duties, to include child protection and safeguarding in line with the Children Act (1989) and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) 2014 Act.

The social worker will co-produce proportionate assessments and Care and Support Plans with families and partner agencies, produce court reports and undertake placement of children for Adoption. The social worker will hold a case load supporting children in need of Care and Support, children whose names are on the Child Protection register and Children Looked after.

The post holder will pursue enquiries with regard to allegations of child abuse (Children Act 1989 Section 47) and follow Cwm Taf Safeguarding procedures and the All Wales Child Protection procedures., All employees are required to comply with their individual and organisational responsibilities under the Data Protection Act, the Information Security Policy and relevant supporting operational policies. Any matters of a confidential nature must not be disclosed or passed to any unauthorised persons or third party under any circumstance either during or after employment except in the proper course of your employment or as required by law, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council or both. Any breach of confidentiality may lead to disciplinary action.

Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
