This post is for a Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Emergency Medicine Services at Preston and Chorley are unified under a single Directorate. The successful candidate will be expected to work on both sites. The Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine will provide high-quality, patient-centred care in the Emergency Department (ED). The role includes clinical, supervisory, and educational responsibilities, contributing to the effective functioning of the ED. The post-holder will work within the framework of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) standards and guidelines to ensure safe, evidence-based care is delivered to all patients. You will be expected to work a mix of shifts including, days, twilights, nights, weekends, and bank holidays., The post holder will:-

• Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the delivery of care to ED patients at both EDs at LTHTR .
• Provide direct care to patients, contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the delivery of Emergency care to adults and children.
• Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time.
• Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
• Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources., o A long standing interest and considerable expertise in the management of patients with major trauma
o Designated place of safety under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 o Follow-up clinics o Major incident planning advice and expertise and training for Trust personnel
