Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (1.0 WTE) Fixed Term Post (Maternity Leave Cover)Special Schools and ARPs team - Hammersmith & Fulham, WestminsterAre you looking to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people?We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Special Schools & ARPs team to work across 3 provisions with both primary and secondary aged CYP, in the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster. The post includes the opportunity to work with a neurodiverse caseload and with CYP with a variety of profiles including supporting young people with severe learning difficulties including profound and multiple learning difficulties.The post provides the opportunity to implement a wide range of therapeutic approaches and interventions in collaboration with education partners. Through joint planning and delivery of interventions in the classroom and through support to families you will ensure that SLT input has a functional impact for the pupils you support., Providing a specialist service to children attending special schools with Speech/Language and communication needs (SLCN) working closely with parents/carers, and staff to enable children to develop their speech, language and communication skills and to access the curriculumTo assess the needs for, develop and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred to the SLT Education service (ARP/special schools). To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficultiesTo be accountable for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriateThe post holder will also provide some day-to-day supervision and peer review support to less experienced colleagues and students, including second opinions when necessary.The post holder will run appropriate in-service training independently for school and other staff.The post holder will have well developed specialist skills in a specialist area of SLCN within the broad range of speech, language and communication needs encountered within the caseload of school aged childrenThe post holder will liaise with other colleagues across a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
