Full Job Description
This post is one of 10 Registrars working in Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust Orthopaedic Directorate at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford.
The successful candidates will form part of a team of consisting of the 10 Consultants backed up by Speciality Doctors, Trust Grade Doctors and Specialty Registrars, appointed on the KSS Regional Training Programme. There are 2 FY2 and 2 CT trainees appointed from the Regional Rotation and trust grade SHO's.
This post is important to the Trust to ensure the continuation of our excellent orthopaedic service and to meet the new QMS workload, enhance new developments and to achieve the 18-weeks target. There will be ample opportunities for you to develop your clinical experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
The post holder will be committed to support the Orthopaedic Consultants to meet the increasing workload, enhance new developments, undertake research & audits and support current orthopaedic service agenda. The post holder will take part in routine clinics, daily ward rounds, audit, trauma meeting and theatre sessions. There will be a requirement for the post holder to undertake duties at our QMS site., The clinical commitments required of the appointee will be as detailed in the weekly programme of duties though service needs may require alteration of the timetable without notice. The appointee will be required to visit any patient in any establishment forming part of the Trust at the request of the consultant and will take part in internal cover arrangements during the absence of colleagues on annual leave or study leave.

So far as is consistent with proper discharge of the above duties the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
Research activities which are considered to be an inherent part of normal clinical duties will be encouraged and limited research funding may be available following successful application to the local Research and Development Committee.
The appointee will participate on a regular basis in the process of Clinical Audit within the Department.
The Post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
