Full Job Description

We are looking for a new therapy assistant to join our Adult Speech & Language Therapy team! We work with adults who have communication and swallowing problems. You would work with the team to provide therapy and education to our patients, their families or colleagues. We'd love applications from people with an interest in speech and language therapy who want to join our large and friendly team., To support and assist the Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) with the implementation and monitoring of treatment plans for patients, working under the direction of registered SLT.

To undertake treatment sessions, give advice and perform appropriate clinical tasks as determined and under the supervision of the responsible SLT.

To carry out observation and information gathering to contribute to the therapists' assessment/intervention.

To provide education and advice to patients, relatives and staff as directed by SLTs eg. Thickener training.

To carry out therapy with patients with communication problems as directed by SLTs.

To assist with dysphagia assessment as required by SLT staff e.g. thickening fluids, positioning patient, preparing food.

To undertake routine administrative and clerical duties required in line with departmental activity.

To be empathetic towards all patients with swallowing/nutrition/communication issues.
