Full Job Description

The postholder will be required to supervise the work of SLT clerical assistants and work closely with the SLT assistants and Technical Instructors. The postholder and ensure there is cover for the SLT service due to sickness, annual leave, study leave and meetings etc. when required To regularly review 18 week RTT for the SLT service to ensure all pathways have been stopped or started as per guidance Design and produce the monthly SLT Service staff timetable. Monitor new patient referrals and current demands for all adult SLT services and support with monitoring of waiting lists and workload as required. The post holder will be responsible for clerical duties in the service e.g. to ensure patients are booked or cancelled for SLT clinics and home visits. Maintain and update patient records on the central computer database. To register and action new patient referrals and manage discharges from the system. To assist with the confidential management of patient records and ensure that all
documentation is returned to the appropriate ward/department is accurately complete and promptly dispatched. To be responsible for the accurate and timely storing/scanning of records, e.g. investigation reports & letters. Liaise with neighbouring NHS trusts as required in relation to SLT patients / referrals. To assist in audit activity when evaluating service delivery as and when required by the Services lead, team leader and Clinical Leads. The post holder should use initiative to make decisions and prioritise their own work when processing calls to the service. Liaise with GPs surgeries and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care as required. Review 18 week RTT for the SLT service as required to ensure all pathways have been stopped or started etc as per guidance Type letters / correspondence / minutes as required for the SLT clinical staff Operate IT systems ensuring correct data is held on the database & Trust systems, and update as necessary. To participate as
required with staff recruitment and selection, whilst considering issues in relation to the departmental structure and future service developments. The post holder will give relevant assistance and training as and when required to support all colleagues. Deal effectively with any performance, capability or informal disciplinary issues with the SLT Clerical Officers in line with Trust policies. To work collaboratively with, manage on a day-to-day basis and appraise SLT Clerical Officers to ensure that robust performance management systems operate which empower staff and optimise their contribution to the delivery of high quality patient centred healthcare. Receive, sort and distribute goods and post delivered to the department.
