Full Job Description
Maintain and update clinical skills as part of the extended role of the nurse.
Be aware of Clinical responsibilities, referring to the medical staff as appropriate.
Participate in Clinical audit and standard setting to ensure the Care Group's responsibilities in terms of Clinical Governance are met.
Be able to maintain a high standard of Record keeping.
Facilitate Students and mentor/preceptor to junior members of staff (all discliplines).
Ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.
Will be designated "in charge" of the ward / department in the absence of the Band 6/7.Clinical
You will be responsible for the planning, organisation and delivery of care to patients.You will be responsible for supervision of junior staff and students within the team.Excellent communication skills are required and you must have the ability to work well on your own initiative as well as part of a team.You should posses god organisational skills and be able to contribute to the development of flexible working arrangements within the team.
You must be clinically up to date with nursing skills and motivated to develop professionally thus maintaining a well developed commited team inorder to get it right for patients and their families., From April 9th 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months)
If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager
You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks
We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
