Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a number of Registered Childrens nurses to join our Childrens Outpatient Team. This role is part time, working 24.45 hours per week, usually over 3 days., In addition to supporting clinics delivered by Consultants, Nurse Specialists and a range of other professionals from Paediatrics and other care groups, you'll be performing/supporting a wide range of clinical investigations/procedures, including:
Paediatric phlebotomy (for secondary care and all GP surgeries in County Durham and Darlington)
Urgent child protection medical assessments 5 days per week
Nurse led allergy skin prick testing
Oral food challenges
Patient education and the development of emergency care plans
Historic sexual abuse examination/investigations
Administration of monoclonal antibodies
The department delivers over 34,000 appointments per year, running a combined total of 19.5 days per week from 5 different sites at:
University Hospital North Durham (UHND)
Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH)
Bishop Auckland General Hospital (BAGH)
Chester le Street Community Hospital (CLS)

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
