Full Job Description
Obtain a thorough medical profile of each patient using assessment skills. Make clinical decisions against protocol regarding their health and fitness.
Plan patient care to optimise health prior to admission - including complex issues requiring the Nurse to be the person in communication between members of multidisciplinary teams.
To work unsupervised, guided by hospital protocols and manage the caseloads to ensure patients are seen close to appointment time and that all follow-ups are done.
Provide health promotion and patient teaching to optimise health prior to surgery - smoking cessation, fasting, and medicines management.
Complete additional training to perform 12 lead ECG recording and venepuncture.
Alter patients medication regime according to protocol during the pre-operative period.
Maintain effective documentation, ensuring safe custody of medical/nursing records.
Ensure patients are physically and mentally prepared for surgery.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced staff nurse to join our team.
The successful candidate will have an interest in peri-operative care and be able to thrive in a busy area with many time pressures and deadlines.
We provide detailed medical and nursing assessment for both elective, day case and surgical inpatients.
You will be part of a small, supportive team but will need to be able to work independently within a clinic and manager a potentially complex caseload of patients.
