Full Job Description

The post holder will assist in the day to day Receipt & Distribution for all deliveries into the trust.

The job is for 37.5hrs a week which will be made up of 7.5hr daily shifts between the hours of 07:00 to 15:00 or 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday

Operating within broad procedural guidelines the objective for the post holder is to ensure a timely and effective delivery service of stock and non-stock items to all areas in the hospital.

This post covers a range of tasks some of which require the exercise of initiative.

To provide in association with other staff, a professional procurement and logistics service to the Trust

To assist Trust Management in meeting the corporate objectives of the Trust.,

  • Receive, check and deliver items ordered by wards and departments.

  • The position requires physical effort often in confined spaces on a daily basis such as the manual handling of roll cages and unpacking of products on to the store room shelves.

  • Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.

  • Provide cover for other Materials Management Assistants as identified by the Supply Chain Supervisor.

  • Ensure compliance with Trust financial instructions and policies.

  • Other duties as required.

    The Lancashire Procurement Cluster (LPC) is a new ground breaking shared service which is creating a step change in procurement and supply chain maturity for the member trusts; Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS FT, East Lancashire NHS Trust and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT. It is fundamentally re-shaping the role of procurement and supply chain across the local health economy to ensure the service is fit for purpose and can deliver value and customer satisfaction in a sustainable manner.

    The LPC is hosted by East Lancashire NHS Trust, but staff are based across all three organisations. The vision is to deliver an excellent procurement, logistics and supplies service which focusses on continuous improvement, delivers value for the Trusts in terms of savings and efficiencies and improves outcomes for patients.

    This post is based within East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and reports to the Stores Supervisor.,

    Educated to GCSE English/Maths or equivalent level/or relevant experience, EDCL or relevant experience CIPS level 2, Experience of a Stores environment and customer service related department or similar environment

  • Experience of working in/with multi-disciplinary teams, Excellent communication skills

  • Organisation, interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Good working knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Office & Excel

  • Proven numeracy and literacy skills including attention to detail

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

  • Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

    If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

    The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

    In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks.     The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £42.90 and for a Standard Disclosure £22.90 which includes a small handling fee.
