Full Job Description

As a Strategic Delivery Lead you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster's success. You'll have an important role in leading our Housing Needs Programme Management Office (PMO) or our Housing Services PMO and delivering the department's priorities - these range from developing strategic level relationships and supporting vital services to driving the delivery of outcomes. Your key challenges will involve acting as a catalyst as you help our stakeholders successfully deliver their priority projects and programmes, and using all your expertise to support senior leaders and their teams as they resolve any risks or cross-cutting issues.

Working to ensure that the relevant priorities are aligned in accordance with council strategies and are delivered in ways that will enable us to realise tangible benefits, we'll expect you to collaborate with your colleagues in the Housing Needs and Housing Services PMO and beyond as you advise on strategic developments. In order to achieve successful outcomes, you'll develop a deep understanding of our change agenda and priorities, and be ready to inform the executive board about project risks, dependencies, delivery confidence and management plans. With this in mind, it's crucial that you build close relationships with local delivery teams and the PMO team.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, self-starter to work at the heart of Westminster City Council while delivering a complex and ambitious change agenda. We're committed to making a strong investment in the personal and professional development of our people, and when you join us you'll be supported and encouraged to develop your talent and leadership potential.

With well developed experience of working alongside stakeholders on strategic change programmes in a large and complex public sector organisation, you'll have the confidence to challenge team and senior leaders on delivery plans and their readiness to deliver them. Capable of thinking strategically about the root causes of issues and risks, and advising on the best way to address these, you'll have a track record of leading and managing complex, cross-functional projects, and of developing relevant management products and processes to ensure successful delivery.

Ready to work independently and flexibly and with a strong focus on delivering positive outcomes, we'll expect you to lead by example, and inspire and influence our stakeholders and everyone else you work with to improve the delivery of change. Committed to fostering an environment that supports collaboration, openness and transparency, and with the ability to pre-empt issues and execute mitigating actions, you'll possess the analytical and lateral thinking skills necessary to develop outcome-focused change strategies and solutions.

A creative problem solver with a proactive attitude and the ability to identify gaps and bring clarity to complex situations, you'll be highly resourceful with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong critical thinking skills. Able to prioritise tasks and activities and successfully navigate varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, your superb interpersonal and communication skills will see you developing excellent relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, partners and colleagues.
