Full Job Description

Yeovil District Hospital is seeking a dedicated and organised Support Typist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics Department. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support within a busy department, assisting in the management of patient records, documentation, and typing duties, ensuring smooth and efficient office operations.

As a Support Typist, you will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to transcribe reports, letters, and other medical documentation accurately and promptly. Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be key to your success in this role.

We require flexibility and the ability to provide a wide range of administrative and typist duties as the services develop. If this sounds like the role for you we would welcome your application., Deal with day-to-day correspondence, initiating appropriate responses to provide patients, staff and other parties with required information in a friendly and professional manner.Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty team, taking appropriate action where necessary.Liaise with appropriate personnel in the team to gather and co-ordinate patient information so this is accessible in a timely manner.Type all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by clinical staff, by use of audio or copy typing. Produce copies for appropriate agencies, filing copies in correct sequence, ensuring follow-up arrangements are in place, listing outstanding investigations on the hospital database system.Process urgent referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments.Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.
