About this client/child: Daniel, 16, is an active and vibrant teenager who lives at home with his loving parents. He has a twin brother who attends a residential school during term time and joins the family during school holidays. Daniel enjoys playing on his Nintendo and iPad, watching Disney films, going for walks, and taking day trips to the cinema, museums, and Chessington World of Adventures. He is on the autism spectrum and experiences anxiety, requiring support with independence, communication, social interactions, and functional skills. While he is quite independent, he benefits from verbal prompts and encouragement to complete daily tasks. Daniel is sensitive to fireworks, bad weather, thunderstorms, and changes to his routine. However, when approached with patience and understanding, he manages his emotions well. His twin brother, who is also on the autism spectrum, will have his own support workers when he is home for the holidays.

Overview of role: During term time, the day begins at 3:30pm with a school pick-up for Daniel from his school in Fulham (SW6), followed by a pleasant walk home-weather permitting. These walks provide a great opportunity to build rapport with Daniel, which is essential for fostering a trusting and engaging relationship. Once home, Daniel benefits from support and encouragement to complete his homework. Once completed, it's time for dinner and relaxation. He enjoys unwinding with his iPad before beginning his evening routine, which he may need some encouragement to complete. During school holidays, Daniel's Support Worker will take an active role in planning and arranging activities and day trips tailored to his interests while also introducing him to new experiences. Daniel's brother will also be at home during these times, and there will be occasions where you'll involve him in activities alongside his Support Workers. Because of this, being comfortable working
as part of a team is important.
