Summary
The tenants that live at Mantell house value their independence and making their own decisions.
Tenants have a variety of practical and emotional support needs. Staff administer medication, support the tenants to medical and benefit appointments, and help with understanding and replying to correspondence.
Additionally, staff support tenants to keep their living environment clean and with shopping and cooking.
Some tenants need emotional support and there is sometimes crisis management.
Staff support tenants to maintain and gain independence skills and to live the life they chose.
Mantell house is staffed 24 hours a day and the shift pattern is based around tenants support requirements.
There is a 6-week rolling rota. The shift pattern includes mornings, afternoon, evening shifts and some weekends.
One staff member sleeps in each night.
Tenants have said this about the support they want:
- I want staff who are not bossy.
- I want people to be non-judgemental.
- I want staff to listen to me and support me how I decide.
- I want staff to support me when I want.
- I want staff who are nice and funny.
