Full Job Description
Our family are usually the people closest to us, those we care most about. Family life is not just about legal ties - it goes far deeper than that. It concerns our most important biological, social and emotional relationships. We hold the value that children and young people are best cared for by their birth families and extended networks, and this underpins our 'family first' ethos. Where this cannot be achieved, we seek to ensure that children and young people's relationships are maintained in line with their best interests. Birth parents and extended networks are included within the decision-making processes, and we provide alternative care which is nurturing, and which fosters a sense of belonging. The Systemic Practice Team: Provide systemic input to Children's Safeguarding & Family Support teams to manage risk and improve outcomes with families where children are in need, those who are at risk of harm and with children who are looked after. Support the delivery of a therapeutic service, under supervision, to vulnerable children and their families, particularly in facilitating work with wider family networks to enable full use of the family resources, and ensure engagement with key service provision available to support children to remain at home with their families wherever safe to do so and best outcomes for children and young people where this is not possible. The work will demand a creative and flexible approach, working with families in their homes and other community settings as required. In addition to providing direct therapeutic interventions, the post holder will offer consultation to professionals and others, including fellow social workers, residential workers, group managers, foster carers and other workers from health, education, primary care and the voluntary sector. The Systemic Practice team contribute to the maintenance and development of systemic and more broadly clinical thinking / practice in services delivered to children and families in Telford & Wrekin.
