Avon Valley Academy is looking to appoint a highly skilled Teacher of Computing to join its friendly and dedicated Mathematics and Business Department, with effect from September 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT, who is passionate about helping every student to succeed.

Contract: Fixed Term (until 31st August 2026). Other: Suitable for ECTs (NQTs)

We are a thriving, co-educational school, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 16. Located in Durrington, Wiltshire, our school has a strong reputation for being at the heart of the community and has built strong relationships with the two local army bases at Larkhill and Bulford. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the full age and ability range (Key Stage 3 - Key Stage 4) and will be a team player happy to collaborate and share ideas with other teachers within the Department. QTS status is essential for the role.

  • Has a commitment to extra-curricular activities;
  • Is aware of current initiatives in Computing/ IT;
  • Is an effective team member who can contribute positively to the work in the Mathematics and Business Department;
  • Has a positive, cheerful outlook with a good sense of humour;
  • Is able to forge good relationships with students and staff;
  • Is able to work hard and remain calm under pressure;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) structure.
