Teacher of Design and Technology (D&T) - Permanent - required Sept 2025

The Design and Technology department is highly successful at Sir Thomas Rich's School, with the overall aim of turning our young learners into effective problem solvers and modern design thinkers. Traditional and modern design and manufacturing methods are taught in specialist rooms/workshops with practical work being an important aspect of the subject which the pupils greatly enjoy. The D&T team comprises the Head of Department, responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, and teachers and technicians who are all skilled in a variety of D&T aspects, passionate about their subject and who support each other by sharing good working practice, practical skills and innovative ideas.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, outstanding graduate to teach D&T from Key Stage 3 up to A level. This permanent part-time post commencing September 2025 would be equally well suited to an enthusiastic ECT with a thirst for learning and developing their chosen career, or a more experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity. Full-time hours may be considered for the right candidate wishing to teach a subsidiary subject. We remain dedicated to mentoring and supporting our staff; our extensive professional development programme will ensure that the successful candidate will get bespoke training and development. They should be willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School.

Founded in 1666 as the Blue Coat Hospital, today Sir Thomas Rich's is a progressive grammar school for boys in Years 7 to 11, and young men and women in the Sixth Form. We are consistently one of the highest attaining schools in the county and we are proud of our long-standing reputation for academic and sporting excellence. GCSE results consistently come in the top 10% for attainment and value added in the country.
