Teacher of English

English is a key part of the curriculum, and it aspires to develop an excitement about the written word whilst equipping students with the skills required to succeed in the wider world. The course focuses on developing key skills across Key Stage Three and engages with a diverse range of texts and text types from a variety of time periods and perspectives. A structured Literacy programme runs parallel to these lessons to ensure that all students are equipped with high level Literacy skills that they can use across the school and beyond. At Key Stage Four, English Language and English Literature are taught as a blended experience to ensure students grasp the connected nature of the knowledge and skills that they develop: this has led to consistent outcomes. Both English Language and English Literature are offered at A Level with many students choosing this option to
facilitate their future paths.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated teacher to complement our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a desire to build strong relationships within the team and across the school.

Kingsthorpe College is an oversubscribed 11-18 Academy with approximately 1400 students on roll. We were graded by Ofsted Good in all areas in December 2019. In September 2021, we joined Orbis Education Trust, and this has unlocked further possibilities for colleagues to develop, progress, and make significant contribution to inspiring the students within our schools.
