Full Job Description
Teacher of PE Full time - 1 year fixed term contract Competitive salary (above Inner London) Required from April 2025 Do you want to be a key part in building a department within our growing school? Do you want to be part of a team that is creating a transformational all-through school? Do you believe that every young person has the potential to gain an A
- at A-level, and go on to rigorous academic study in a highly competitive University? If so, we have a new and exciting opportunity for an PE Teacher in our Secondary school. As a new all-through school, Goresbrook has a rare opportunity to innovate, and create a superb, continuous learning experience for children from 3-18 years. Our Primary school opened in September 2014, and our over-subscribed Secondary school opened in September 2016. As a teacher of PE teacher, you will deliver an outstanding curriculum to ensure all pupils make excellent progress and work within our PE Team in setting the future direction and vision of the department. Whether you are an outstanding experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or trainee teacher seeking your first role, you will play a key part in the School's development. As we are growing every year (840 pupils at full capacity in Secondary, including Sixth Form), there will be many opportunities for promotion and development. You could play a part in leading and shaping the vision and future of our school for many years to come. We have the children; we have the brand new state-of-the-art building; we now need you! If you are passionate about your subject, and are excited by rigorous and innovative curriculum design, we are the school for you. Our curriculum is based on cutting-edge insights from cognitive science and educational research. It is designed in order for pupils to achieve mastery of content in English and Maths and therefore to be able to flourish in all areas of the curriculum. We recognise the discrete nature of different disciplines of learning and 'map backwards' in each curriculum area from 'readiness for University' back to Primary. We look at the best practice from across the globe to influence our thinking. We have a very strong focus on core knowledge; pupils revise core content from knowledge organisers on a daily basis and frequently quiz themselves to ensure learning 'sticks'. We seek and act on feedback to improve constantly. All teachers receive weekly coaching and development time in addition to planning. Lessons are regularly recorded for personal and peer feedback. As a result, our teachers and leaders improve their practice very quickly. If you want to work in an environment where you will really make a difference, Goresbrook is for you. If our core values of 'growth, belief and team' resonate with you, and you enjoy a fast-paced environment that celebrates hard work and success, then you will love working here. You are very welcome to visit us, even if you do not end up applying for the post. We are 20 minutes on the tube from Mile End, and just 15 minutes' drive from East London. We love to have people visit, to participate in children's learning and to join us for our 'family dining' lunch experience. You may also like to arrange an informal chat with the Principal, Megan. Feel free to contact her directly on: Megan.Harris@goresbrookschool.org.uk How to apply: Click apply or email HR@goresbrookschool.org.uk for more information. Closing date: 5th December 2024. Early applications are encouraged; we will interview exceptional candidates as early as possible. Interviews: W/C 9th December 2024 United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
