Full Job Description

The person appointed will teach predominantly A level Psychology. Flexibility to teach other courses, such as Criminology (WJEC) and/or Sociology (AQA) is desirable. Our students are currently studying: AQA Psychology: Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology Paper 2: Psychology in context Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology (we cover schizophrenia, gender and forensic psychology) There is sometimes the opportunity to teach across Departmental boundaries, although this can naturally not be guaranteed. Where possible the College will try to be flexible over the subjects to be taught, taking into account personal experience, skills and preferences. Personal Tutor Responsibilities The Personal Tutor has two primary responsibilities: to support and to inform. To support: The Personal Tutor plays a vital role in motivating, monitoring, supporting and guiding students' academic progress through the College. Daily and weekly attendance report, and the student profiling cycle provide valuable information about individual progress, and enable Tutors to identify problems at an early stage. It is the responsibility of the Tutor in the first instance to act upon this information as appropriate. This may mean, for example, offering advice, liaising with other subject staff or organising additional subject support. Some students will experience personal difficulties during their time at College, and these may well be brought to the Personal Tutor, especially if academic progress is being hindered. To inform: It is the responsibility of the Personal Tutor to ensure tutees are aware of College events, policies and procedures.
