Full Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Registrar in O&G based in Singleton Hospital, Swansea. The post is ideal for an O&G trainee at ST3+ who has an interest in medical education and teaching. This will be the twelfth successive year of the teaching post. If the successful candidate desires, this post may be counted towards training with appropriate GMC approval prior to commencement., This is a whole-time post, commencing Wednesday 6/8/25 for a period of 1 year. The successful candidate will be expected to attend and teach in outpatient clinics, on ward rounds, labour ward and theatre sessions. In these clinical sessions the teaching registrar will undertake supervised teaching sessions for year 3 graduate entry medical students from Swansea University. The specified teaching clinics have reduced numbers of patients to facilitate additional time for teaching.
There is funding within this post for the successful candidate to undertake a certificate in postgraduate medical education based in Swansea University. Protected time for this is included in the weekly timetable.
There is no requirement to undertake night time on call in this post. We anticipate that an occasional daytime weekend on call may be available at middle grade level. This will be separately remunerated.
The post is offered subject to Terms and Conditions of Service governing the appointment of hospital medical and dental staff in England and Wales with modifications applicable within the SB UHB Health Board.

This is a full time teaching post for one year commencing on 6^th August 2025 with no guaranteed out of hours on call and consequently no banding. Some weekday evenings and weekend days on call may be available and negotiated separately with the Department if desired. There will be no nights on call during the year.
Funding is provided for the successful candidate to undertake a postgraduate certificate in medical education at Swansea University during the course of this year.
