Tameside Council is committed to building a safer digital world and we are looking for a highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Cyber team as a Technical Cyber Specialist.,

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk assessments on client systems.
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities across a wide range of platforms.
• Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Work closely with services to understand their needs and provide tailored cybersecurity solutions.
• Provide guidance on security best practices and educate team members and colleagues on current threats.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, providing technical analysis and root cause identification.
• Keep abreast of the latest trends, vulnerabilities, and tools in cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with internal teams to integrate security controls into systems and applications.
  
  As a Technical Cyber Specialist, you will play a critical role in securing the Council's IT systems and networks. You will use your in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity tools, methodologies, and industry best practices to identify vulnerabilities, develop security strategies, and ensure that our clients' environments are protected from emerging threats. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a passion for tackling complex security challenges., Applicants should have the following qualities:
• Proven experience as a Cybersecurity Specialist, Security Engineer, or similar technical role.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat modelling, risk analysis, and vulnerability management.
• Proficiency with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, SIEM tools).
• Experience with common operating systems and networking protocols.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
