Tilia Homes have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director to join our Eastern team and based from our office in Bedford on a permanent basis. It's a fantastic time to join a successful team that have a sense of community and a positive environment. The region is operational on over 10 sites with more launching in the next 18 months and are set to build 400 units this year. Sites are diverse in size and nature across Herts, Beds, Oxon and Norfolk. This Senior post will lead an established team that includes Development, Engineering, Adoptions and Legacy. This post is responsible for the overall management and performance of the Technical department in the region. Duties include:

• Reporting to the Managing Director, to support site development and the attainment of targets through the management of all technical services, including all technical, engineering and architectural aspects of the business from land acquisition through to site completions and final adoptions
• Responsible for the performance of the team in delivering technical design and approvals required for all projects within the Region
• Provide a practical and cost-effective technical service to the company and all of its functions and to ensure that best practice is followed, costs are controlled, the department maximises revenue generation and contribution to the company's operating profit
• Engage with the management of the business, in accordance with corporate responsibility for the business, work effectively as part of the senior management team and take a "whole company" perspective to managing issues
• In conjunction with other Board members undertake monthly site visits
• Must be commercially aware working with established budgets to provide a cost-effective team performance.
• Be directly responsible for managing the professional fee budget for each development
• Act as the role of Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations
• Ensure that technical department procedures are adhered to, and layouts, technical reports and required working drawings are provided within the agreed date schedule
• Ensure that all technical staff are aware of the health and safety implications of every design decision.
• Communicate well with staff, Department Heads, external consultants and other bodies.
• Engaged from cradle to grave, ensuring land acquisitions are technically sound and identify risk and opportunities to the busy through each project's life cycle
• Be responsible for producing technical design solutions encompassing site evaluation, architectural and engineering design, the investigation of technical problems encountered and provision of economical viable resolutions
• Considers the strategy to positively impact our sustainability goals and look for opportunities to embed ESG through the technical team
• Has knowledge of ESG and initiatives to improve and support the business to become more sustainable
  
  Experience in a Senior Technical post, within housebuilding
• Demonstratable experience of contributing to, and meeting a strategic vison
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience with Building regulations and NHBC standards
• Proven experience in driving projects to timescales and budget through to completion
• Experience of leading and developing a large team
• Effective at building relationships
• Full UK Driving license
