Full Job Description

Role Purpose Technical Estimator working on small to medium sized projects, working closely with the Head of Technical Pricing to analyse & model business development opportunities and sales account performance issues. Work collaboratively with BD Sales teams to ensure accurate costing of service solutions and challenging solutions with respect to innovations and competitiveness. Main Duties

  • Solution Modelling - Conduct cost modelling to accurately reflect the Sales Team's solution for business development opportunities, as well as the commercial & financial risk associated with each tender.
  • Risk Analysis - Identify and address operational and technological risks as part of the sales team's solution development process. Work with the Head of Technical Pricing and stakeholders to ensure appropriate management and mitigation.
  • Data Analysis - Manipulate, assess, and evaluate client provided bid data, and work closely with internal Sales Team to ensure its provenance, accuracy, and interpretation understood and appropriately considered in developing the bid solution.
  • Stakeholder Relationships - Build relationships, maintain regular personal contact with internal & external stakeholders, customers, and partners to improve the exchange of information, knowledge, and expertise to enable improved modelling of opportunities and sales of products to meet annual business development & sales objectives.
  • Reporting - Work with Head of Technical Pricing in preparing commercial/pricing updates for mid-bid reviews, divisional sign off and Board sign off, including caveats and assumptions.
  • Business Development - Audit business processes and identify opportunities for processes improvement. Establish intellectual property through benchmarking and build these into bids and proposals to improve the commercial value of bids and mitigate price risk.
  • Business Performance - Analyse business performance, identify sales, business development & commercial performance improvements, and generate & publish information reports for line management consideration. What we are looking for
  • Reporting to Head of Technical Pricing and working closely with the Pricing Teams and Bid Sales Teams the role is characterised by developing pricing models for Specialist Bidding teams. Typically, the job involves significant internal stakeholder engagement. The role requires excellent numeracy, problem solving, and analytical skills, together with an ability to interrogate and manipulate large volumes of data in challenging timescales. A strong attention to detail is key to ensure cost models are built to the highest standards. A knowledge and understanding of industry related specifications and service standards such as SFG20, MoD SFG20, HVCA, CIBSE, BICS, and RICS would be beneficial as well as strong Microsoft Excel Skills.

    The role requires excellent numeracy, problem solving, and analytical skills, together with an ability to interrogate and manipulate large volumes of data in challenging timescales. A strong attention to detail is key to ensure cost models are built to the highest standards.
