BBC Media Operations is at the heart of teams delivering incredible content across all our platforms for all audiences. Comprising around nine hundred people, it manages the craft and production operations for the BBC's news, radio, and some sport services across London, Salford, and Birmingham - capturing, editing, and producing our output 24x7 for TV, radio, and digital platforms. Our team are experts in their field with exceptional technical, operational and production creativity at their heart. Working closely together with our editorial colleagues, we co-create content reaching millions of people across the UK and the World daily. The team is also responsible for the management of production services, editing and post-production, stores, and some audio, fleet vehicles and OB bases in England. The Location team is responsible for resourcing and supporting outside broadcasts for Radio and News, and for Production Services who supply and support kit to self-shooters. Our team work on some of the BBCs highest profile events ranging from music (Glastonbury, the Proms), to Sport (Euros, Olympics) to News (coverage of the Party Conferences, elections as well as breaking News events).Main Responsibilities You'll be required to provide technical production expertise for a wide range of productions, assuming the overall responsibility for the planning and realisation of sound operations for a production or event in order to realise editorial objectives. Typically, duties would include: Plan and organise the technical, staffing, safety and logistical requirements for outside broadcasts, including ordering and hiring of appropriate equipment. Rig and de-rig outside broadcast equipment in a safe manner. Set up and test communications, recording and broadcast systems. Using audio craft skills, including balancing and editing, on Outside Broadcast productions, both live and recorded. Offering operational and creative guidance and advice to other colleagues and production staff. Developing specialist skills whilst retaining the capability to balance and control the whole range of audio productions, working on own or in teams. Liaise with other organisations in order to agree and co-ordinate the provision of on-site facilities. Development of new effective ways of working.

For this role you will be a self-starter, you should have a proven track record of being able to manage your own time and support editorial staff, as well as demonstrate an interest for radio broadcasting operations. You should be confident working on your own on live output. You will need to work well as part of a team and you will also be relied upon to play your part in the delivery of the media aspects of productions on time and to budget. You will have great communication skills, as well as an understanding of the BBC's audience output. You will have the ability to work to a high standard within a small skilled team and have excellent interpersonal skills. Being flexible to change will be essential in this role. Essential skills required:

• Ability to constructively offer creative ideas in-line with relevant editorial priorities
• Be able to mix both live and recorded radio programmes to a high quality standard for broadcast.
• Experience in visualisation for Radio and be able to operate robotic cameras and use craft specialism to assemble audio objects utilising current production tools.
• Be able to communicate well with production and other members of the team to achieve successful outcomes.
• A good understanding of IP networking and its application to media delivery.
• A good understanding of working safely in the outside broadcast environment.
