Full Job Description
The Theatre Scrub Practitioner will work as an integral member of the surgical team, delivering high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures. You will provide skilled assistance to surgeons during operations, ensuring the safe and effective management of instruments, equipment, and sterile fields. This is a patient-facing role requiring professionalism, technical expertise, and collaborative teamwork. You will work on a rotational basis across all, 1. Prepare surgical instruments, consumables, and equipment before each case To ensure surgical procedures begin on time and run efficiently, you will check and prepare the correct instruments and consumables according to the operating list and surgeon preferences. You will complete safety and equipment checks, ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards and theatre protocols. 2. Scrub in and assist during surgery To provide direct and skilled assistance to the surgical team, you will maintain the sterile field, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and handle instruments with precision and care. You will actively contribute to a smooth intraoperative process, helping to optimise patient outcomes and minimise complication 3. Maintain infection control and aseptic technique throughout procedures To protect patients from surgical site infections and promote safe environments, you will rigorously follow infection prevention policies, handle sterile equipment appropriately, and
ensure the integrity of the sterile field at all times. 4. Accurately document patient care and intraoperative activity To ensure legal compliance and continuity of care, you will complete all required records relating to instrument counts, surgical events, implants, and patient observations. You will contribute to accurate handovers and timely communication with recovery staff. 5. Support the multidisciplinary team in the safe delivery of patient care To facilitate seamless patient journeys
