This is a full-time post for one experienced Trust Grade FY2 to join the Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH) based team. Your role will include: 1. Care of the elective ward at HH 2. Pre-operative assessment of patients. 3. Assisting in elective theatre. 4. Care of the trauma ward at PCH 5. On-call duties are at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) site alongside the resident On-Call SPR and under the guidance of the On-call Consultant. There will be excellent opportunities to learn surgical and clinical skills in both cold orthopaedics and trauma. Hinchingbrooke is the main elective Orthopaedic site for NWAFT and Peterborough is the hot Trauma site with some specialised elective day case theatre lists. The plan is for most of the elective work to move to Hinchingbrooke in next year. In collaboration with the team, you will provide high quality patient care to inpatients, deliver pre-operative assessment of patients, and assist in elective theatres. You will have full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice. Teaching and training are important for us. You will enjoy excellent hands-on experiences to learn surgical and clinical skills in both cold orthopaedics and minor trauma. You will join a team of 7 Junior Doctors and 4 Nurse Practitioners based at HH who support the doctors with routine elective ward work as well as pre-operative assessment. During the on-call shifts at PCH, you will work alongside the resident on call SPR and you will also be supported by the On Call Consultant who is resident during the daytime and non resident overnight. The Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors undertake elective lists and outpatient sessions each week while the FY2 or ST Doctors are expected to clerk the patients for those lists. Ward rounds are included in the weekly schedule. Your role will fit into going on ward rounds and supporting consultants. There are regular monthly medical audit meetings. You will ensure that all data collection and processing undertaken is consistently accurate and timely and complies with the Trust Data Quality Policy and local procedures.
