Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be required to work at various sites across the health board in order to meet the needs of the service. The Urology department is currently run across 3 sites;
+ Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant
+ Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend and
+ Princes Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil
In collaboration with the Consultant Urological Surgeons and the Urology Nurse Practitioners, the post holder will aid in providing a comprehensive urological service for the patients within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) catchment area.
The successful candidate will :
+ Provide highly developed specialist knowledge and skills within Urological Nursing to the multi-disciplinary team.
+ Provide advice and support to patients and their families.
+ Organisation and clinical provision of Urological services across CTMUHB.
+ Manage own caseload autonomously without direct supervision making decisions on care based on own interpretations, analysis and options available.
+ Provide specialist training and education.
+ Develop and aid in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols.
+ Plan, manage and facilitate nurse led clinics.
+ Deputise for all Nurse Practitioner for Urology as and when required in their absence., + Be actively involved in all of the below nurse led Urology clinics, as well as providing supervision and support to junior and unregistered staff;
+ Trail without catheter (TWOC) clinics
+ Elevated Prostate-Specific-Antigen (PSA) management
+ One Stop Prostate Biopsy clinic including Local anaesthetic transperineal prostate biopsy (LATPB).
+ Lower Urinary tract systems (LUTS) clinic.
+ Rapid Access Haematuria clinic.
+ Follow up Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
+ Telephone follow up post prostatic surgery/BPH.
+ Pre admission clinic.
+ Intravesical chemotherapy/immunotherapy.
+ Follow up and New prostate cancer clinic.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply., + Evidenced experience of working within the Urology speciality and be able to Identify and exercise best practice guidelines for all urological conditions and procedures.
+ Evidenced and demonstrable experience of working autonomously and managing their own caseload.
+ Be competent to perform pelvic examinations as well as digital rectal examinations (DRE) in order to facilitate Nurse led prostate clinics for both new and follow up patients.
+ Be experienced in Urology Oncology and have a good understanding of the various Urological cancer pathways.
+ Be able to carry out the role of a cancer key worker, including holistic needs assessments.
+ Be competent to undertake nurse led flexible cystoscopy clinics with urology consultant on site cover for advice and escalation
+ Be keen to learn and develop their professional knowledge and skill set to meet the needs of the service.
+ Be proactive in the development and running of new initiatives within the clinical field.

Band 7 / Band 7 Annex 21

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed, During the training period, the post holder will be paid at 70% of the top pay step of a Band 7 (for Months 1 - 12) and at 75% of the top pay step of a Band 7 (for Months 13 - 24) in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.
Upon successful completion and approval of the development, even if sooner than the 24 month allocated timeframe, the post holder will automatically move to the bottom pay step of Band 7, as they will meet the full outline of this role, and therefore be expected to undertake all duties within this Job Description.
