Vehicle Examiner

You have just contributed to ensuring that Britain's roads are one of the safest in Europe. How did you do that? You are at a roadside check, alongside other agencies, inspecting vehicles to make sure they are safe to drive. You find a defect on a vehicle, the driver is in a rush and you have to make a decision whether to allow the driver to carry on driving it, or to take enforcement action.,

• I carried out roadside checks and prohibited dangerous vehicles from continuing with their journeys.
• I wrote reports on my findings.
• I presented evidence at a Public Inquiry / Court.
• I attended a team meeting and collaborated with my colleagues.
• I made a difference to the safety of our roads.
A typical Commercial Vehicle Examiner will also:
• Analyse data, looking for discrepancies and trends.
• Answer technical queries from customers, offering advice, guidance and education as required.
• Keep their technical knowledge up to date and manage their personal development.
• Be an effective teammate and contribute to team events and meetings.
• Champion DVSA and road safety.
