Full Job Description

Would you like to work for the charity that cares for hundreds of historic sites in every corner of England? We are looking for a Visitor Assistant to join us at Stonehenge working minimum 21.6 hours/ maximum 36 hours per week.
No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. You will enjoy working with others as part of a team and understand what makes excellent customer service to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience.
Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage.
Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings. That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.
As a member of the Welcome Team at Stonehenge you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. If you have a passion and genuine enthusiasm for engaging with people, providing an outstanding welcome to our beautiful properties and at the same time relish the opportunity to turn this engagement into membership, this could be the role for you.
As a welcome team member, your role will be working in our Front of House and Membership admission till areas, providing engagement in our queuing system and helping with directions in our car park all whilst providing a world class welcome to all our visitors.
You will be visitor focussed as part of the welcome team at site, providing excellent customer service, where your passion and enthusiasm will engage and inspire our visitors to become members of English Heritage, helping them to see more and do more at our properties whilst helping us to secure the long term future of the Charity.
You'll play a vital role in helping us achieve our Membership recruitment targets by engaging with visitors and promoting its benefits.
You will also ensure your site is accessible, safe and well presented at all times. It is a varied role and some days will be busy from start to finish, whereas others may be quieter especially on the wetter days! No two days are the same.
We're looking for someone with an enthusiasm for working face to face with visitors, who enjoys working with others as part of a team to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience with a focus on promoting and selling membership.
You will have the personal drive to succeed and thrive on exceeding targets as part of a team.
As a confident communicator, you will be comfortable building rapport with our visitors and using your skills to tell them about our wonderful properties and encourage them to join English Heritage as members.
Training and support will be provided as part of your induction to the role, but some paid or voluntary experience working with the public may be beneficial.
If this role is of interest to you then please get in touch. You can find out more by downloading the job description or contacting us.
