Full Job Description

Benefits: Pension, 25 days Annual Leave, 9 day-fortnight, staff learning fund, enhanced parental benefits package Why this role is important - and why you'll make a difference At HOPE not hate, our mission is to expose and oppose far-right extremism. Our work focuses on the organised far right, the communities who are susceptible to them and the issues and policies which give rise to them. At the ballot box, on the streets and online, Britain's far right is posing its most serious threat since the Second World War. HOPE not hate are looking to hire a Campaigns Organiser in Wales to join our team as we embark on a new project aimed at building hopeful communities in areas susceptible to the far right. What you'll do in the role

  • Working in local communities to build local resistance to the far right.
  • Working with communities to identify key local issues that may form campaigns, in the run up to local elections.
  • Building capacity by mobilising and organising key HOPE not hate supporters.
  • Providing support to the wider C&C team including identifying potential 'campaign heroes' across the country from these events who we can work with to create short films and social media posts to celebrate hope
  • Organising hopeful community events in your patch and developing relationships with key community groups and leaders.
  • Capacity committing, you will work with wider C&C team on our national campaigning agenda including our campaigns to strengthen regulation on social media companies and to provide racial, social and economic justice for communities across the UK.

Someone with a deep respect for local communities who are susceptible to the far right. Our role as HOPE not hate is to work proactively with these communities, without judgement and with great sensitivity.
  • Experience in a political or community organising role with excellent political judgement.
  • Experience mobilising and managing volunteers.
  • Someone who can demonstrate emotional resilience when working on a tough issue in a high pressure climate. We understand that our work can be stressful and have support in place for all team members who need it but we encourage applicants to think carefully about whether they are prepared to work on this subject area day in day out.
  • Someone with a clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle (we will cover your fuel expenses!)
  • Someone who is proactive, suggesting new ideas and approaches to make our work as successful as it can be.
  • We are looking for someone with the emotional resilience to work in a field that involves challenging content, good political judgement and awareness and the ability to work under pressure and reduced timescales. We believe that our work will be at its best if it is created by people with a range of backgrounds and experiences. We are keen to interview people who will add diversity to our team. We are an antifascist organisation, which strives to be an effective ally in the wider fight against racism and inequity.
