Workshop Supervisor & Master Technician (HGV Commercial)

48 hours per week, across Mon - Fri 08:00 - 18:00 & Saturday availability as and when required in line with the needs of the business (between the hours of 08:00 - 13:00), alongside 1 hour unpaid daily breaks.

The role -

Managing and motivating a team of HGV mechanic technicians, ensuring all workshop and front of house activites are compliant with H&S legislation, working alongside the workshop controller in allocating work across the team and ensuring completition of job cards.

Servicing and maintaining HGV vehicle and trailers, including fault diagnostics, MOT preparation, mechanical and electrical repairs, etc.

Ensuring repairs are carried out in a safe and responsible fashion, whilst adhering to both company and manufacturer expected standards.

You will readily be on hand to answer any questions or queries from internal and external sources and will report directly in to both the Managing Director and Operations Director, whilst being directly supported by a Workshop Controller and an Office Administrator.

Manage and take on responsibility of the front of house workshop on a daily basis.

Management of the front of house workshop and all associated service functions to improve efficiency, productivity, cost saving and profitability.

Prioritising workload to meet both customer and business needs, taking into account factors such as complexity, availability of parts, workshop targets, pre-existing bookings I.E., MOT's.

Managing and coaching a team of vehicle technicians and apprentices, making sure targets and business objectives are met.

Responsibility for ensuring all workshop rules and regulations are implemented and adhered to.

Working closely with the company's senior management team.

Excellent technicial knowledge, ability, speed and application.

Monitoring of job cards, service documentation and other documents.

Ensuring provisions and the ongoing condition of the workshop, tools and equipment are maintained.

Liaising directly with the workshop controller to ensure standards of work, competency and deadlines are adhered to, whilst ensuring cleanliness and a safe working environment are maintained at all times.

Any and all other duties that befit the role and in line with the needs of the business.

Previous workshop supervisor or management experience working as a HGV technician mechanic within the commercial vehicle industry (or associated industry).

Qualified to Level 3 (C&G or equivalent) in heavy/commerical vehicle maintenance and repair.

Excellent technicial knowledge of workshop procedures, manufacturer procedures and mechanics in general.

Solid knowledge to accurately diagnose faults.

Class 1 licence desirable but not essential.

An understanding of recording and delivering on KPI's and workshop performance measures.

An understanding of the importance of customer focus and relationships.

An understanding of collaborative and team ethos management and development.

Excellent organisational skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Excellent leadership skills.
