Full Job Description

This is a professional development opportunity for a skilled individual to cover the current post holder's maternity leave until 31st December 2025.We are looking to appoint a Youth Engagement Worker to cover maternity leave to be part of the Vulnerable, Exploited, Missing and Trafficked Team (VEMT). This is an excellent opportunity for a high performing and motivated professional.
We are looking for a passionate individual who will be able to demonstrate their skills in offering support to, and undertaking direct work with some of the most vulnerable young people, as well as providing advice where necessary to other professionals and parents/carers. Undertake return home interviews (meet ups).
You will work face to face with young people providing a short intervention around their vulnerabilities and needs, using a suite of resources available within the team. Knowledge of and being able to connect young people with their local community and helping services is a key feature of the work.
The successful candidate will work closely with professionals across the Vulnerable Young People's approach and partner agencies to promote the effective safeguarding of young people across the city.
You will need to evidence your capacity for multi-agency partnership working and have an understanding of safeguarding thresholds, with specific knowledge of the vulnerabilities associated with children who are at risk of exploitation and going missing.
You can expect to join a welcoming, hardworking team, where expectations are high, but you will receive support and supervision to assist you to undertake this important role.
