Full Job Description

As a Case Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering pre- and post-court interventions for young people and their families. You will conduct high-quality, comprehensive assessments of need and risk, ensuring that interventions are outcome-focused and tailored to support young people effectively. 'Child first, offender second' is the central approach to the role, promoting diversity while addressing safeguarding concerns such as child exploitation. In this role, you will contribute to reducing discrimination and disproportionality by recognising and challenging systemic barriers and risks. Your attention to detail will be key to creating impactful and meaningful support plans that address offending behaviours or vulnerabilities.

Do you have experience of working in a youth criminal court setting with the ability to support young people and their families in a crisis? Our Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a high performing team, placing the well-being of children and young people at the centre and helping them realise their potential to become accomplished adults. Using the skills of a multi-disciplinary team to support children and their families, you will join a service that helps to address issues that may be causing them difficulties.,

  • A professional qualification in Social Work or Probation with post qualifying experience.
  • Knowledge of Criminal Justice Legislation and be committed to meeting the aims and objectives of the Crime & Disorder Act 1998, the Criminal Justice & Immigration Act 2008 and the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
  • Recent experience of undertaking assessments and working directly with parents / carers.
  • An ability to demonstrate commitment to the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills along with good IT skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly as some evenings will be required.
