Full Job Description
Waltham Forest Highways is responsible of about 420km of roads, 900km of footpaths, 30km segregated cycle tracks and we require an experienced Network Co-Ordinator. We have a duty to manage our road network balancing the necessity of works on the highway with the right of road users to expect the minimum disruption from works. In order to provide maternity cover for a minimum period of 6-months, which might be extendable, the successful candidate will work within the Highways and Parking team and with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. Waltham Forest Highways is committed to providing a high-quality service to the residents of the borough and we are looking for a highly motivated person to become a valuable member of the team., The successful candidate will be involved in a varied range of tasks including assessment and coordination of:
- road & street works permit applications from utilities and highway authorities;
- highway licence applications from builders and developers for scaffolding, hoarding, cranes etc;
- events on or affecting highways;
- applications for Temporary Traffic Orders;
- temporary traffic-management proposals for all the above activities.
- Proposed temporary works within draft Construction and Logistic Plans (CLP) for proposed development sites They will also be involved, in collaboration with our inspection team, in monitoring utility defects, immediate works and other potentially disruptive incidents on our road network.
The successful candidate will be experienced in carrying out a similar range of tasks and will have a good working knowledge of the applicable legislation, codes of practice etc. SWQR Supervisor qualification is also desirable but not essential. You would join a busy team within our Highways Department and should therefore have good time management and organisational skills and be prepared to meet strict deadlines. IT skills should include the ability to use Microsoft Office packages. Experience in the use of Symology Aurora and/or other Street Manager compatible street works management systems will be useful.
