Connaught House School, Central London Looking for a warm, creative and dedicated class teacher to join our nurturing, family-run independent school in the heart of London. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach a co-educational class of motivated and engaged pupils (class sizes of 10-14) in a one-form entry setting where good behaviour and a genuine love of learning are the norm. With only 76 pupils across the school, we are proud of our close-knit, supportive community where each child is truly known and valued. Connaught House School has been family owned and run for over 73 years, and we take pride in our long-standing tradition of providing a warm, individualised education. Situated just a stone's throw from Hyde Park and only a short walk from Marble Arch tube station, the school is easily accessible via public transport, with mainline stations including Paddington and Victoria close by. We are especially keen to hear from candidates with a desire to lead and develop Humanities across the school. Key Responsibilities - Classroom Teacher
- Plan and deliver high-quality, well-structured lessons that reflect the school's ethos of personalised learning, following both the school's curriculum and National Curriculum expectations. Lessons should be tailored to the individual needs of our international pupils.
- Use regular observation, formative and summative assessment data to monitor pupil progress and plan effective, responsive learning opportunities.
- Foster a warm, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported and inspired to learn.
- Promote lively, motivated and curious learners who grow in confidence and develop a respectful awareness of their peers, their school community and the world around them.
- Create engaging displays and a stimulating classroom environment that celebrates children's work and supports learning.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, maintaining excellent communication and contributing to the collaborative, family-oriented culture of the school.
- Be responsible for writing clear and meaningful pupil reports three times a year, reflecting academic progress and personal development.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including events, outings, and collaborative initiatives with staff and pupils.
- Engage positively in ongoing professional development, taking an active role in the life and growth of the school.
- Plan and take a 45minute after school club once a week. Class teachers are responsible for teaching the core curriculum, including English, Maths, Sciences, Humanities, IT & Computing, and PSHE. Part-time specialist teachers currently deliver French, Drama/Dance, PE, Music, and Art. Key Responsibilities for Subject Lead:
- Maintain and update the History & Geography Policies and curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum requirements. Safeguarding CHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, provide proof of identity and right to work in the UK, and undergo online screening checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. The school will also obtain references directly from referees prior to the interview, unless specifically requested not to. All appointments are subject to satisfactory safeguarding checks and compliance with the school's safeguarding policies and procedures. As part of our safer recruitment process, the school will conduct online social media checks on prospective staff to ensure their suitability to work with children. These checks will be carried out in accordance with our safeguarding policies and data protection regulations, helping to identify any potential concerns. A copy of the school's recruitment policy and safeguarding and acceptable use policies are available to download from the school's website. https://www.connaughthouseschool.co.uk/school-policies Application Process To apply, please complete the linked application form. CVs alone will not be accepted. Please submit your application by 28th April 2025. Indicate in your application if you are interested in the opportunity to Lead Humanities.
