Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Translational Research Coordinator to join MANIFEST ("Multiomic ANalysis of Immunotherapy Features Evidencing Success and Toxicity"), a pioneering multi-stakeholder consortium. MANIFEST brings together leading experts from NHS trusts, academic institutions, universities, and industry partners across the UK. Funded by the UK Office of Life Sciences (OLS) and the Medical Research Council (MRC), the consortium aims to revolutionise cancer treatment by addressing one of its most pressing challenges: predicting how patients will respond to immunotherapy.

Immunotherapy has transformed survival outcomes for many cancer patients. Immune checkpoint inhibitors, which release the brakes on immune cells to target cancer, are now standard care for various cancer subtypes. However, despite their success, significant challenges remain. Currently, there are few biomarkers capable of reliably distinguishing between responders and non-responders, predicting toxicity, or guiding treatment decisions. MANIFEST seeks to overcome these challenges by integrating deep multi-omic data and innovative methodologies to improve treatment precision and effectiveness.

The Translational Research Coordiantor will play a pivotal role in coordinating the University of Cambridge/Cambridge University Hospitals' participation in the MANIFEST project. This role involves overseeing all aspects of sample management, ensuring smooth collaboration between study sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing standardised procedures for the collection, handling, and preparation of clinical samples, while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and compliance with legislative and ethical guidelines.

Key responsibilities include providing regular updates to the MANIFEST Principal Investigator and project team, ensuring accurate data management, and supervising the translational research team. The post holder will coordinate the transfer of materials and data between Cambridge and other MANIFEST sites, manage budgets, and ensure financial controls are met.

Applicants should hold a degree-level qualification in a scientific or technical subject or possess equivalent practical experience. Essential experience includes knowledge of clinical research¿ideally in cancer¿familiarity with clinical trials and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and practical experience with specialised laboratory activities and equipment. Desired criteria include experience managing budgets, leading laboratory staff, and working knowledge of software related to trial management such as Achiever and Epic.
