Full Job Description
IT and digital skills are essential as the postholder will be using a Library Management System and Microsoft applications while also troubleshooting for customers. Experience delivering customer service and facilitating activities for children are also highly desirable. Experience in cash handling would be an advantage.
The postholder will be based mostly at Nailsea Library and providing assistance at the mobile library, but all staff are contracted to North Somerset library service and may on occasion be asked to work at any other North Somerset library. The hours are worked on a two-week cycle as follows:
Week 1: Tuesday 9.30-4.30, Thursday 9-5, Friday 9.30-4.30, Saturday 9.30-1
Week 2: Tuesday 9.30-4.30, Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-4.30
You will also be required to attend a monthly team meeting at 8.30am on the third Tuesday of the month (time due will be given.), This is a fixed term post for 12 months. Please note that you will start at the lower end of the salary scale above unless transferring from an internal role at the same level.

The postholder will have excellent customer care skills, enjoy working with the whole community and be confident in working with and providing information to the public in a busy environment., Experience of library work is not essential, but you should share our passion about the role of libraries in promoting reading, literacy and culture., This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
