Full Job Description

Senior Clinical Advisors are required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the service provided by providing high-quality, evidence-based healthcare to the immediate needs of the patient.

You will require a critical understanding of detailed theoretical and practical knowledge and have specialist knowledge and experience. A depth of knowledge and understanding which enables you to perform at a high level of practice, take a leadership role, use and develop evidence to inform your practice and deal with complex, unpredictable patient presentations. You will be responsible for the telephone assessment of health and clinical needs, utilising professional clinical judgement, supported by NHS Pathways and other suitable clinical decision support systems across both 111 and 999.

The role requires generalist and specialist skills to assess and deliver care to patients across all age-groups. You will provide assessment, medication advice and health information supporting individuals to access the appropriate level of care including advice to manage their symptoms at home. You will be responsible for the supervision, teaching and preceptorship, coaching and mentoring of other staff, which may include; students, other clinicians and health advisor., Many people think the job of the ambulance service is to collect patients and take them to hospital, but we do much more!

Paramedic skills have developed hugely in recent years, meaning we carry out more treatment at the scene and en-route to hospital.

We have a dedicated clinical assessment service that allows us to provide patients with the most appropriate care from the beginning of the patient journey.

We have a specialised branch of the Trust called HART which deal with explosions or terrorist attacks.
