Full Job Description

We are seeking an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our Emergency Department, which also serves as a Major Trauma Centre and includes an onsite Urgent Treatment Centre and an Emergency Decision Unit. ACPs will work across all areas of the department and are required to cover both day and night shifts.
Each ACP will have a designated consultant clinical supervisor and receive regular supervision. The ACP team also benefits from protected teaching time to support ongoing development.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we prepare to open a new emergency floor extension in November 2025. The expansion will include a Paediatric Assessment Unit and a Same-Day Emergency Care facility, creating new opportunities for ACPs across the Urgent Care group., Work autonomously at an advanced clinical practice level, providing direct delivery of care that utilises advanced clinical assessment and reasoning skills to deliver safe and effective care that additionally enhances positive outcomes and experiences for infants, children, and young people within the Trust.
Work in partnership with other professionals, families, and carers in managing the care of infants, children, and young people within the Trust.
Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy in decision making skills in acute, complex, and uncertain situations whilst holding accountability for decisions made within the service and in partnership with other professionals.
Practise in compliance with respective Code of Professional Conduct and work within the respective scope of practice; responsible and accountable for decisions, actions, and omissions at this level of practice.

The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site., Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical duties comprise of 80% of working time, with the additional 20% of working time used for professional activities/outputs across the other 3 pillars of advanced practice.
These additional leadership, educational and research (LRE) related activities will: (1) operationalise Trust values; (2) be negotiated with service/Trust leadership/management; and (3) contribute to service development, quality improvement, patient safety and/or patient experience. The PDR process will be utilised to review LRE achievements and agree on-going outcomes across the leadership, research and educational activities.
The role includes nights with no more than 3 nights every 8 weeks, and two weekends every 8 weeks.
