Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 36-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). You will be instrumental in the effective development, implementation, and evaluation of a child focused justice approach across the GMCA and its relevant partners, leading to organisational and cultural change. Employed and supported by a world leading academic team from the University's Manchester Centre for Youth Studies (Home - Manchester Centre for Youth Studies), you will be based at GMCA's premises in Manchester. Greater Manchester is one of the country's most successful city-regions. Home to more than 2.8 million people and with an economy bigger than that of Wales or Northern Ireland. The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is made up of the ten Greater Manchester councils and Mayor, who work with other local services, businesses, communities and other partners to improve the city-region.

A Masters degree (or equivalent experience) in Sociology, Criminology, Youth Justice or a related subject. A PhD level qualification in the field of Sociology, Applied Criminology, or Youth Justice would be advantageous. Application requirements: - Specialist Knowledge:

  • Child centred Justice, co-creation, evaluation (thematic analysis, Realist evaluation) cultural change, participation models (e.g. Lundy Model, Participatory Youth Practice) and project management approaches
  • Youth/criminal justice processes and pathways
  • - Skills & Attributes:
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and in problem solving
  • Excellent project management and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of participatory research approaches
  • Interpersonal skills and empathy
  • Capable of confidently engaging with senior leaders
  • - Experience:
  • Working with or within the justice sector,
  • Undertaking research with children and young people, To develop an organisational cultural and process change capability that will enable the effective development, implementation, and evaluation of an enhanced child focused justice approach across the GMCA and its partner organisations
