Full Job Description

Due to expansion, we are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Assistant to join our dedicated Pathology team in Laboratory Services at our site in Manchester. As a new and growing department, our haematology and biochemistry laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting groundbreaking drug development! FOCUS OF THE JOB:

  • To provide support to the Clinical Pathology Laboratories (Haematology and Biochemistry).
  • Responsible for sample receiving, preparation and storage.
  • Maintaining minimum stocking levels of standard laboratory consumables.
  • Maintaining of Clinical Trials Samples and relevant records relating to clinical studies and other studies carried out within Laboratory Services.
  • Routine maintenance of instrumentation
  • Knowledge and operation of Quality Management Systems within a regulated Laboratory environment.
  • Working to, writing, updating and reviewing policies and SOPs.

    BSc Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science or relevant experience
  • Experience in operating and maintaining a QMS
  • Experience with LIMS and/or ELN
  • Familiarity with the processes and requirements for the handling, preparation and storage of clinical and non-clinical samples (including but not limited to, Plasma, serum, CSF, urine)
  • Knowledge of testing procedures and applicable laboratory regulations for clinical samples.
  • Experience in generating, reviewing and updating SOP's
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and an understanding of applicable laboratory testing regulations (including but not limited to GLP, GCP and ISO 17025)
