Full Job Description
The role is in either Year 1 or Year 2 working within our dedicated Year 1&2 team of 5 classes. This position would be suited to an experienced teacher or an enthusiastic ECT, for whom we offer regular release time, an experienced mentor and a bespoke training package; in both cases, we are committed to providing support in order to develop you into a highly effective teacher. We offer the successful candidates a fun and friendly team, the pleasure of working with our fantastic pupils and a community committed to supporting and developing all its staff to be the best that they can be.
Adaptability, creativity and positivity are all important components of the role to enthuse and motivate children. You will need to have experience of teaching in KS1, preferably including synthetic phonics/Read Write Inc, and with a passion for creative learning. You will need to be flexible and organised, have high expectations for both work and behaviour, be able to work collaboratively with a very supportive team and have a good sense of humour.
Maternity and 1-year fixed term contract until 31st August 2026 (with the potential to become permanent)
Salary range: M1-M4 (£31,650 - £38,034)
(Salary will be determined at interview based on relevant experience)
If you want to work alongside experienced, talented colleagues in an exciting, highly supportive school to make a difference to our amazing children, then St. John's could be for you.
St. John's is a very happy, successful and popular school, operating over two sites and situated at the top of Whiteladies Road close to The Downs. We have high levels of staff retention but due to a teacher maternity and relocation, we are in the rare position of being able to recruit 2 (or more if a job share) teachers in our talented KS1 team. We have one fixed term position for a full year starting in September and one maternity which could start in term 6 or from September. Our outstanding team of highly dedicated and hardworking staff are the key to the school's success and reputation, so this is an exciting opportunity for you to come and join us. Please read our OFSTED report for more details of our outstanding practice.
We pride ourselves on being a caring and high achieving organisation both for our staff and pupils, prioritising the wellbeing of all. We are seeking to recruit exceptional individuals who can develop nurturing relationships with children as the basis from which they can use their skill and dedication to enable a strong sense of belonging and the highest standards of achievement for their pupils.
