Full Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our team, to support our IT team at the Chandlers Ford Head Office. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and optimising a robust, scalable data infrastructure that underpins the organisation's strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for driving innovation in data processing, governance, and automation, ensuring best-in-class data accessibility and performance. You will be key to shaping our data strategy and influencing business intelligence initiatives across the company. Gathering business requirements, designing solutions, and managing stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accessible data that supports strategic decision-making. As a Data Engineer, you'll get to:
- Act as a key liaison between business and technology teams, engaging with senior stakeholders to align data strategies with business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring, sharing best practices and ensuring high standards across the data engineering function.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, analytics, and engineering, to build a secure, scalable, and well-governed data infrastructure.
- Lead end-to-end data engineering projects, gathering business requirements, designing scalable solutions, and ensuring successful delivery.
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to enable reliable, timely data delivery for analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
- Develop and optimize data models that align with business needs, improving performance and supporting advanced analytics.
- Implement and manage containerized and cloud-based solutions to enhance scalability, efficiency, and deployment of data workloads.
Strong demonstrable experience in data engineering or cloud data architecture role, delivering high-impact data solutions. - Strong expertise in cloud data processing technologies (e.g. Databricks, Synapse, Fabric).
- Demonstratable programming skills with significant exposure for Python data processing, automation, packaging and scalable solutions.
- Extensive experience in data modelling, warehousing, and governance, ensuring high-performance analytical environments.
- Advanced SQL (Structured Query Language) skills with experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration leveraging tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex data challenges with a strategic, problem-solving mindset.
- Experience engaging with senior business and IT stakeholders to align data strategy with organisational objectives.
