Full Job Description
We are recruiting for a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) within Defence Business Services (DBS) Integrated Assurance Team. The Integrated Assurance Team provides assistance and guidance to colleagues and customers on Information Assurance, Information and Records Management, Security and Data Protection. The team aim to provide consistency within policy to harness best practice across the business and are engaged in a wide array of activities to achieve this aim.
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join us in the Data Protection Team. Our Disclosures Teams deliver a high-quality service to all customers, ensuring compliance with information rights legislation and application of Data Protection (DP) legislation. The successful candidate will manage the Disclosures Teams and staff, ensuring the compliant delivery of Information Rights Requests (including Subject Access Requests) and the Accessing Personal Information Service. This includes managing and answering complaints arising from these areas and providing general Data Protection advice and guidance to colleagues and customers.
Our teams are highly committed to employee engagement and customer service. You will receive full training in the role with opportunities to develop yourself professionally.
To enable the delivery of these services we use a flexible resourcing model to respond to changes in demand to ensure continuity of business critical services to MOD.
The post is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Person specification
As a Higher Executive Officer, you will be expected to:
Apply and adhere to legislation, ensuring compliance across your area of responsibility.
Apply established principles, legislation, methods and best practice to situations.
Utilise effective communication for correspondence with customers, colleagues and stakeholders at various grades throughout the business.
Make decisions focused on the day-to-day operation within your areas of responsibility.
Provide detailed, authoritative advice to decision makers, utilising specialist knowledge.
Provide specialist advice and guidance to customers and business areas alike.
Work independently, subject to senior direction.
Manage staff, including performance reporting.
For the specific post advertised, the following criteria is desirable
Data Protection Practitioner (PC.dp) qualification, or willing to work towards.
The ability to digest complex information and relay to others in an understandable manner.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience managing staff.
