Full Job Description
Working with the Director of CfAI, the post holder will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic plan for CfAI's projects and will work with senior academics and other stakeholders to ensure outputs from instrumentation projects are in line with University and Department strategy. The post holder will develop and maintain an operational structure that is in line with strategy, and recommend improvements to internal processes, communications, operational efficiency and the approach to line management of staff. The post holder will provide the strategic input into the projects undertaken within CfAI in particular the coordination of the resources of a project team to ensure the timely delivery of projects. This will include forward planning, resource projection, and the identification, recruitment and development of new staff. When required the post holder will also be responsible for technical and managerial support on projects working closely with both the internal and external stakeholders. They will also support proposal preparation specifically in relation to the costing, resource allocation and management. When applicable the post holder may also provide technical management support for specific projects, either directly, or through the management of dedicated Project Managers., We prefer to receive applications online. - Work within a teaching or research area of activity of national and international significance.
- Run and manage a teaching and/or research facility/technology or platform in collaboration with academic staff to deliver a portfolio or projects.
- Deliver teaching and/or learning activities designing individual workshops and sessions.
- Contribute technical expertise with the design, delivery, analysis and write-up of recognised award and reputation generating activities, research publications, projects and teaching scenarios.
- Take responsibility for the overall design of one or more learning activities.
- Deliver the planning, design and implementation of research outputs and prepare innovative teaching/research proposals.
- Organise out of hours supervision for research projects and self-directed student projects providing expert guidance with scientific, technical and experimental approaches and systems. Communication/Liaison
- Lead internal and external meetings and committees to influence University policy, standards and governance.
- Build and lead an influential network of internal and external contacts to increase your knowledge and skills, swap information with peers and use that information to add value to the delivery of research and/or teaching projects.

- Travel independently between the Physics Department on the Durham Science site and the CfAI research Institute out at Netpark, Sedgefield.
- Travel independently to visit prospective partners and customers in relation to CfAI projects, some of which may be outside the UK.
- It is also possible that some travel may be required to attend project meetings and instrument installations some of which may be outside the UK.

1. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience). 2. Masters / PhD in Project Management (or equivalent experience). 3.
