Full Job Description
- Due to the continued success and international growth of the Firm, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Business Services Finance Accountant to support our non-fee earning (overhead) functions.
- The Assistant Business Services Finance Accountant supports in producing accurate and timely management accounts, delivering financial management information to key stakeholders, and business partnering with operational colleagues where appropriate to drive commercial decision-making.
- The jobholder is expected to demonstrate a good working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including but not limited to accruals and prepayments, double entry bookkeeping, budgeting and forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- The Assistant Business Services Finance Accountant is also able to articulate financial information to both finance and non-finance colleagues in a confident and approachable manner. THE TEAM

The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering.
- The Business Services Finance team are finance business partners and trusted advisors to the Firm's Business Services leaders, commercially managing the Firm's overheads spend to drive operational and financial excellence across the Functions and ensure value for money is being achieved.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE The Assistant Business Services Finance Accountant principally supports the Business Services Finance Accountant in producing accurate and timely management accounts, delivering financial management information to key stakeholders, and business partnering with operational colleagues to drive commercial decision-making. To succeed the Assistant Business Services Finance Accountant will have good working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including but not limited to accruals and prepayments, double entry bookkeeping, budgeting and forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations. You will be an ambitious individual who continuously strives to identity areas for improvement by actively seeking opportunities and taking accountability in investigating and resolving queries.,
- Assist with, and own where appropriate, management accounting adjustments and controls (accruals, prepayments, general adjustments, reconciliations).
- Support, and own where appropriate, the production of accurately and timely management accounts ensuring compliance with company controls and policies (profit and loss, balance sheet) and resulting variance analysis.
- Assist with, and own where appropriate, the delivery of financial management information to both finance and non-finance colleagues including investigating and resolving queries.
- Assist with providing commercial support to operational colleagues to ensure understanding of financial performance, and to help drive commercial decision making.
- Support with the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for Business Services Functions, working with budget holders to understand operational and financial performance, including risks and opportunities.
- Review and approve purchase orders in accordance with the Firmwide purchasing mandate and support the Accounts Payable team with query management where appropriate.
- Assist with, and own where appropriate, firmwide cost allocations (mobile phone recharges, Document Production recharges, and other centrally distributed costs).
Previous experience gained in a finance capacity. - Actively studying, or have the intention to study towards, a professional accountancy qualification AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or qualified by experience.
- You will have a positive attitude with a keenness to develop, being able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and knowing how to manage and prioritise a demanding workload.
- Able to use own initiative and work autonomously, actively seeking accountability and opportunity whilst at the same time knowing when to seek assistance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to discuss financial information with financial and non-financial colleagues
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and 'tell the story' of financial performance.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy, having the ability to deliver quality outputs without errors.
- Strong Excel skills, with good working knowledge of formulas and functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot tables etc.).
