Full Job Description
Are you an experienced and motivated programme manager who can use their skills and expertise to drive delivery of the government’s growth mission? If so, we'd love to hear from you!
About the Team
The Growth Delivery Unit (GDU) is a new team established to drive delivery of the Chancellor’s priorities and support her growth mission leadership. We do that by combining policy, analytical, project management and data science skills to monitor the progress of policies and projects from announcement to delivery; identifying when and why progress is being blocked; and intervening to overcome those barriers. This role is part of our recruitment to put the GDU on a permanent footing across both our London and Darlington offices.
We are a friendly team with a can-do attitude. Our work can be fast paced but we work flexibly to support each other. We offer lots of development support to help you thrive. Diversity and team wellbeing are very important to us. Our work is relatable and interesting because it is focused on priority issues which are often in the news and have tangible impacts.
About the Job
In this role, you will:
1. Develop and maintain the master delivery plan for the growth mission.
2. Provide in-house programme and project management support to teams in HM Treasury involved in delivering the growth mission.
3. Support the Heads of Profession in HM Treasury to embed robust project management and delivery practices and standards across the department, in line with the Project Delivery Capability Framework.
You will be joining the newly established Projects and Delivery Excellence branch of the GDU, and you will work closely with the line manager and head of branch to develop a workplan and decide which projects and issues you focus on to maximise your impact. You will need to build relationships with teams and get grips with a variety of projects or programmes quickly, and apply project management tools and techniques in a strategic, flexible and collaborative way to add maximum value.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience of successfully delivering outcomes in a programme or complex project role. You will have the ability to build effective working relationships quickly and work collaboratively with others to overcome challenges and deliver results. You’ll have the ability to extract the key information from complex data sets and present this in accessible and engaging ways to inform and influence decision makers. Lastly, you will be able to structure, plan, flex and prioritise a broad workload to deliver consistently high-quality work in a busy and uncertain environment.
Some of the Benefits our people love!
· 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant). Additionally, we operate flexitime systems, allowing employees to take up to an additional 2 days off each month
· Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, condensed hours)
· Generous parental and adoption leave packages
· Access to a generous Defined Benefit pension scheme with employer contributions of 28.97%
· Access to a cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme and season ticket advances
· A range of active staff networks, based around interests (e.g. analysts, music society, sports and social club) and diversity
